Los Alamos Program Office Updates (6/30/11)
The COMPA Corporate Family hopes all of you are safe and healthy during this stressful time of the Los Alamos evacuation and LANL closure. The latest updates are provided below.
- COMPA Los Alamos Office Temporarily Closed:
The COMPA Los Alamos office at 1350 Central Avenue is temporarily closed due to the Los Conchas fire. In the meantime, the COMPA office staff in Los Alamos will be working remotely, or from the COMPA Albuquerque office, and you can still contact us by phone (505) 662-2500 or you can e-mail individual staff members at the same address:

- COMPA Employee Picnic Postponed
: Due to the fire situation in Los Alamos, the annual COMPA Employee Picnic scheduled for July 6th has been postponed. It will be rescheduled for later in the summer. We will send out another notification after everything settles down. We hope and pray for safety for you and your family in this time

Employee Assistance Program:
To COMPA Employees at LANS: In this time of stress related to the events surrounding the fire, we would like to remind you that COMPA provides an "Employee Assistance Program" for times such as this. We have contracted with Outcomes Inc. to provide confidential assistance to you. There is no cost to you to utilize the service below. Sometimes it helps to just be able to talk to someone about what is going on with the fire and how it has affected your situation and to cope with the stress. We encourage you to contact the number below if you think it would help. Employee Assistance Program: Outcomes Inc: Phone: 505-243-7145 or 800-677-2947: Provides confidential assessment, referral, and/or brief term counseling.
- Instructions for Time Entry During Official LANL Closures
A reminder that you can enter your time from off site locations at any computer with web access:
The following instructions must be followed to their entirety to insure your time sheet is submitted correctly and you will be paid accordingly with the next payroll cycle
Note: As a reminder, employees can enter the hours this week as "Report Pay" if they were scheduled to work on site in Los Alamos but were prevented to do so because of the closure.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR TIME ENTRY DURING OFFICIAL LANL CLOSURES
- Only hours that are scheduled to be worked on a normal work day can be entered.
- Hours are to be entered under your regular cost code box within your time sheet.
- Do not enter hours under the Standard Hour box - Enter scheduled hours under the "Report Pay" box of your time sheet
- You will find the "Report Pay" box option under the listings of standard hours, overtime hours, on call, evening shift, etc......IMPORTANT - Do not try to type in a Report Pay search. Process: 1) Select Favorite Tasks from your Fieldglass home page or 2) within your active time sheet "add task codes"
- If you do locate this Report Pay Reallocation code in error and add it to your time sheet, it will be rejected. This is not a proper cost code to use
- Report Pay hours cannot be used toward the accumulation of hours into overtime
- Report Pay is paid time off with an official LANL closure
- Do not enter Report Pay hours in a regular non-working day
- Do not enter Report Pay hours in a day already scheduled off for Vacation or any other time off request
- Paychecks on Time for COMPA Employees:
Please note that paychecks for COMPA employees will be deposited this week as usual for those with direct deposit. Employees who usually receive paper checks can pick up their check at the Cities of Gold Lobby area on Friday (July 1) from Noon to 2:00 pm. Employees must pick up their checks in person and present valid identification. Checks not picked up will be mailed to the home address

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
COMPA has contracted with Outcomes, Inc., to provide year-round employee assistance services. Employees and household family members may utilize up to five sessions per situation, at no cost to the employee. Counselors are available in the northern New Mexico locations of Santa Fe, Los Alamos, and Espanola. All visits are strictly confidential. COMPA never knows who uses EAP. Outcomes publishes monthly newsletters; please pick one up if you happen to be in the COMPA office.

Junior Achievement of New Mexico - Updated 10/29/10
COMPA Industries has been an active participant in Junior Achievement for over 5 years, and we are extremely proud of the hours we devote to classroom participation.
"Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. JA's unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver our curriculum while sharing their experiences with students."
CAP Award Request Form - 10/29/10
A CAP award is a monetary award designed to grant “immediate” recognition to individuals for their day-to-day extra efforts and contributions.
The CAP Award Program allows supervisors and other individuals to grant employees immediate monetary recognition for extra efforts that warrant small awards. The CAP Award instruction sheet and form is included below:

401k One on One Info Sessions: Update - 10/29/10
Additional one-on-one meetings with the 401(k) representatives in Los Alamos will be available in the weeks to come. If you have questions regarding your 401(k) and were unable to attend the previous information sessions please take advantage of this opportunity. The goal of these meetings is to answer any questions you may have regarding the 401(k) program.
Appointment times are available both days between 9:00am and 5:00pm. If more time for appointments is necessary, future dates will be arranged.

LANL Wellness Center Available - 8/24/09
Please note: All COMPA employees on assignment at LANL are eligible to utilize the Wellness Center.
The Wellness Center is a great facility that offers a variety of aerobic equipment, weight machines and free weights. They also provide health and fitness educational classes and exercise programs.
It is free to you as a contract employee at LANL!!
If interested, here is what you need to do.
1. Stop by the wellness center for one of the 30 minute orientation sessions. There are three separate sessions each Wednesday at 9:00 am, 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm
2. Tell them you are a COMPA employee and show them your badge
3. In the orientation class you will be shown a video, and given a tour of the facility
4. You will need to arrive 10 minutes early to fill out some paperwork
5. After that you are set to go and get fit.
The current hours of operation are:
Monday – Thursday 5:30 am to 7:30pm
Friday 5:30 am to 6:00 pm
Go ahead and take advantage of this opportunity on your lunch hour or before or after work to maintain and improve your health.
